Tournament Terms
Last Updated: July 11, 2026
These Tournament Terms supplement the Terms of Service and apply when you register for or participate in a tournament through Courtmate. If there is a conflict, these Tournament Terms control for tournament activity.
The tournament organizer is the Facility, not Courtmate. Courtmate provides the registration, bracket, scoring, and payment tools; the Facility organizes, runs, and is responsible for the event.
1. Registration and Eligibility
- You must meet the eligibility requirements the Facility sets for an event (such as age, skill level/rating, division, or membership).
- Registration is complete only when any required entry fee is paid and the Facility's requirements are met. Submitting a registration does not guarantee a spot; events may have capacity limits, waitlists, or approval steps.
- You agree to provide accurate information, including rating or division details. Misrepresenting eligibility may result in removal without refund.
2. Partner and Team Registration
- For doubles or team events, registration may require a partner or team. A registration that depends on a partner is not final until the partner accepts and any required fee is paid.
- If a partner withdraws or fails to confirm, the Facility's policies determine whether you may substitute a partner, are moved to a waitlist, or are withdrawn.
3. Entry Fees, Refunds, and Cancellations
- Entry fees are set by the Facility and charged through Stripe at registration.
- Player withdrawal. Whether a withdrawal is refundable (to your original payment method or as Facility credit) depends on the Facility's refund policy and the timing of your withdrawal, as shown at registration.
- Organizer changes or cancellation. The Facility may reschedule, restructure (including divisions, format, or draws), or cancel an event, and will determine refunds or credits consistent with its policy and applicable law. Courtmate processes the refunds or credits the Facility authorizes.
4. Draws, Formats, Seeding, and Scoring
- Brackets, draws, seeding, match formats (including round-robin, single/double elimination, and MLP-style formats such as dreambreakers and lineups), and scheduling are determined and managed by the Facility.
- Score entry and verification occur through the platform; the Facility (or its designated officials) has final authority over scoring, eligibility, and rules disputes during an event.
- The Facility may modify a draw or format to address byes, no-shows, withdrawals, or operational needs.
5. Conduct and Assumption of Risk
- You agree to follow the Facility's code of conduct and the rules of play and to treat officials, staff, and other participants with respect. The Facility may disqualify participants for misconduct, typically without refund.
- Tournament play involves inherent risks of physical injury, which you voluntarily assume. The release and assumption-of-risk provisions in Section 6 of the Terms of Service apply to tournament participation. Any waiver the Facility requires is between you and the Facility.
6. Results and Publicity
By participating, you understand that your name, division, seeding, match results, and standings will be visible to other participants and to the Facility through the platform, and may be displayed in public brackets, draws, or results where the Facility makes them available.
7. Courtmate's Role
Courtmate provides the technology to register, organize, score, and pay for tournaments. Courtmate does not organize, officiate, or guarantee any event and is not responsible for a Facility's conduct of, changes to, or cancellation of an event, except to process payments, refunds, and credits the Facility authorizes. The disclaimers and limitation of liability in Section 15 of the Terms of Service apply.
8. Contact
Questions about a specific tournament should go to the organizing Facility. Platform questions: support@courtmate.net.
