Courtmate SMS / Text Message Program
Program: Courtmate Account Verification & Tournament Alerts
Courtmate (operated by CourtMate LLC) sends two kinds of transactional text messages to users who opt in: one-time account verification codes and tournament match alerts. We do not send marketing or promotional text messages under this program, and consent to receive texts is never a condition of purchase.
1. How users opt in
Opt-in happens inside the Courtmate app (accounts are required, so the screen is shown below for reference). A user opens Settings → Profile, enters their own mobile number in the “Mobile phone” field, and taps “Verify by text.” The following consent disclosure is shown directly beneath the phone field at the moment of collection:
“By tapping ‘Verify by text,’ you agree to receive a one-time SMS verification code from Courtmate at the number above. Msg & data rates may apply; message frequency varies. Reply STOP to opt out, HELP for help. Consent is not a condition of purchase. See our Privacy Policy.”
Tournament match alerts are sent only to participants who have added and verified a mobile number as described above. No phone numbers are ever added by Courtmate, purchased, or imported from third parties — the user always enters their own number.

The in-app opt-in screen: the user enters their number and the consent disclosure appears at the point of collection.
2. Messages we send
- Verification code (sent when the user requests it):
“Courtmate: your verification code is 482913. It expires in 10 minutes. Msg & data rates may apply.” - Tournament match alert (sent when a participant's match is called to a court):
“Fairfield Summer Slam: you're up at 2:30 PM on Court 3 vs Jane Doe. Good luck! Reply STOP to opt out.”
Message frequency varies by use: verification codes are sent only when requested, and match alerts are sent only during tournaments the user is playing in (typically a few messages per event day). Message and data rates may apply. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
3. Opting out and getting help
- Reply STOP (or STOPALL, UNSUBSCRIBE, CANCEL, END, QUIT, REVOKE, OPTOUT) to any Courtmate text to stop receiving messages. You will receive one final confirmation: “You have successfully been unsubscribed. You will not receive any more messages from this number. Reply START to resubscribe.”
- Reply HELP (or INFO) for help: “Reply STOP to unsubscribe. Msg&Data Rates May Apply.” You can also contact support@courtmate.net.
- Opting out of SMS does not affect your Courtmate account; verification and alerts remain available by email and in-app notification.
4. Privacy
We do not sell, rent, or share your mobile phone number or your SMS opt-in consent with third parties or affiliates for their marketing or promotional purposes. Your number is disclosed only to our SMS delivery provider (Twilio) for the sole purpose of sending the messages described above. See our Privacy Policy (section 2.1, “SMS and Text Messaging”) and Terms of Service for full details.
